The Union and the Company met this week at the National Mediation Board in Washington, D.C. in an attempt to reach an agreement on wages and benefits. The Company has now given us their final, closeout proposal on wages. The Union feels that after more than 6 years of negotiations the offer falls far short of what you deserve as Aviation Maintenance Professionals in a competitive market. The Union made numerous moves toward the Company from our original positions. The Company acknowledged that the Union had moved significantly towards them, but claimed that it had no more money for this work group. Accordingly, negotiations came to a conclusion today.
The Union is very disappointed that the Company could not meet what we feel are very reasonable wage proposals. With no hourly wage increases since 2008 the Company’s wage proposals are paltry at best.
The Company is preparing a closeout document for your review. The Union will provide this proposal to vote on in coming weeks, as required by the IBT Constitution. Exact dates and other voting information will be provided once all of the documents are prepared – however, if you would like to vote (and we encourage you to do so) it is important to update your home address with the Company immediately.
Those who participated this week were:
For the Union: Chris Moore, IBT Airline Division Representative, Bob Luciano Local 210 Business Agent, IBT outside economist Dan Akins, IBT Attorney Nick Manicone and Committee members Geoff Maloney and Chris Rogers.
For the Company: Jamie Hill, VP of Maintenance, Kevin Wade CFO, Tom French outside counsel, Evan Leigh, Finance, and Basya Joyner, Human Resources.
In Solidarity,
Negotiating Committee
